Aston Villa duo Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins both found the net as England thrashed Sporting KC 5-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday. The match allowed fringe players to stake their claim ahead of Tuesday's clash against Ghana.
Impressive Performance from England
Ivan Toney bagged a hat-trick, marking the second consecutive behind-closed-doors match in which he has scored three goals, having previously done so against Miami FC ahead of the World Cup. Rogers and Watkins also contributed to the scoreline.
Marc Guehi was another player to feature in both the Croatia match and Thursday's fixture, coming on as a substitute for John Stones. Eberechi Eze, Dan Burn, Jarell Quansah, Kobbie Mainoo, and Jordan Henderson were also reported to have taken part.
Tuchel's Squad Depth
The result provided a lift for head coach Thomas Tuchel, who welcomed Trevoh Chalobah into his squad after Tino Livramento suffered an injury. Chalobah, a centre-back capable of operating on the right flank, received his call-up as a replacement.
Ex-England forward Wayne Rooney expressed surprise at the selection, suggesting Luke Shaw or Djed Spence might have been better options. However, Tuchel's decision to call up Chalobah reflects the depth available to the squad.
