Aston Villa's 2024/25 Financial Accounts Unveil Strong Performance

Aston Villa have officially released their financial accounts for the 2024/25 season, showcasing a robust profit after tax of £17 million. This announcement highlights the club's significant strides in both on-field success and off-field business operations.

Revenue Growth and Champions League Impact

Total revenue for the period soared to £378.1 million, marking a substantial 37 per cent increase from the previous year's £275.7 million. The primary catalyst for this surge was Aston Villa's participation in the Champions League, where they advanced to the quarter-finals in their first appearance since the 1982/83 season. This European campaign generated substantial broadcast revenue, matchday income, and prize money, which were not available in the prior year.

Commercial and Infrastructure Developments

Commercial performance also saw notable improvements, with sponsorship revenue rising by 31 per cent to £28.6 million, and other commercial income increasing by 69 per cent to £70 million. Capital expenditure escalated sharply to £69.3 million, more than four times the £16.4 million invested the previous year. This investment funded a comprehensive refurbishment of hospitality lounges at Villa Park ahead of Champions League fixtures, the opening of new flagship retail stores at the North Grounds area of Villa Park and in the Bullring shopping centre, and the launch of The Warehouse, a 3,500-capacity multi-use entertainment venue at Villa Park in December. Additionally, Bodymoor Heath received significant upgrades, including a new rehabilitation centre for the men's first-team.

Future Plans and Ownership Adjustments

Preparatory works have commenced on the previously announced redevelopment of the North Stand, which is set to increase Villa Park's capacity to over 50,000. In their accounts, Villa confirmed that in June 2025, NSWE Sports Limited transferred ownership of both Aston Villa Women's Football Club and the subsidiary holding the operating rights to The Warehouse venue to NSWE Holding Limited, a subsidiary of NSWE UK Limited. This move is designed to allow these businesses to attract external investment independently, without requiring investors to take on exposure to the men's football operation.

Compliance and Strategic Vision

Aston Villa's accounts affirm that the club continues to operate within the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), a constraint that has influenced transfer strategy in recent windows. The club concluded their statement by emphasizing the owners' commitment to the long-term, sustainable development of Aston Villa, expressing optimism for continued progress in achieving the club's strategic objectives.
