Former Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas has urged Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers to remain at Villa Park this summer, cautioning that a transfer to Arsenal or other top clubs could stall his progress. The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from Villa, with Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly interested.
Rogers' Impact at Villa
Rogers has established himself as one of Villa's most valuable assets, contributing 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions last season. His performances helped Unai Emery's side secure Champions League qualification and win the Europa League. Given his age, quality, and importance to the team, he is considered one of the Premier League's brightest young talents.
Jenas' Warning
Speaking to 10bet, Jenas warned that a move to Arsenal could see Rogers struggle for regular game time. "Unless someone is leaving, what's really the point of Rogers going there?" Jenas questioned. "We've seen what happened to Emile Smith Rowe; he's a top player but wasn't playing week-in, week-out." Jenas highlighted that Rogers is currently Villa's main man, playing regularly and preparing for Champions League football. "If I were him, I'd stay put at Villa all day long," he added.
Financial Considerations
Jenas also acknowledged Villa's financial situation, noting that the club had to balance the books last year. However, he believes that if Villa can strengthen and build on their success, Rogers should remain part of their plans. "Unai Emery strikes me as a person who just wants more and more," Jenas said.
