Hundreds of festive runners are set to don Santa hats and reindeer antlers for a celebratory Christmas run at MediaCity, all in support of the vital work of Moya Cole Hospice.
A Festive Challenge for a Vital Cause
The RunThrough Run MediaCity Christmas 5k and 10k event promises a fantastic day out, starting and finishing in the vibrant heart of MediaCity, Salford. Participants can choose their challenge, running in memory of a loved one, for a personal goal, or simply to support the compassionate care provided by the hospice.
Moya Cole Hospice is the official charity partner for this celebrated occasion, and every step runners take will help the organisation continue its essential work.
The Route and Runner Perks
The event features a flat and fast 2.5km loop, perfect for both seasoned athletes and first-timers. The scenic course will guide participants over the canal and past iconic landmarks including the Imperial War Museum, ITV, and the BBC television studios.
To ensure a smooth and encouraging experience, each kilometre will be accurately marked, and plenty of helpers will be on hand to cheer runners to the finish line.
All entrants will receive a host of benefits, such as:
- A unique themed medal
- Free official race photos
- Chip-timed results
- Post-race goodies
- A hospice running vest or t-shirt
Runners will also get a fundraising pack filled with fun ideas, training plans, and the support of a friendly events team every step of the way.
How to Get Involved and Fundraise
Discounted charity places are available for just £15. In return, the hospice asks participants to aim for a minimum fundraising target. For the 5km run, the goal is £125, and for the 10km, it is £200.
All registration fees and sponsorship money will directly help Moya Cole Hospice provide its holistic, life-limiting care to thousands of people each year. This includes inpatient care, day therapy, and supportive outpatient services from its sites in Heald Green, Stockport, and Little Hulton, Salford.
The hospice’s extensive community work also features a Hospice at Home service in Salford and Trafford, a palliative care team in Salford, a homelessness palliative care service in Manchester, and a 24-hour advice line.
