Lloyds Bank has confirmed that 23 branches will close across the UK in October, with Birmingham's Harborne branch among those affected. The branch at 125 High Street, B17 9NP, will shut its doors on October 8. A further 10 closures are scheduled for November.
Why Lloyds is closing branches
The bank attributes the closures to shifting customer behaviour and the rapid rise of mobile banking. According to Lloyds, these changes have made physical branches unsustainable. Customers will still be able to carry out everyday banking transactions at nearby Post Office and PayPoint branches.
Harborne has a Post Office also located on the High Street. Services available there include cash withdrawals, cash deposits and cheque deposits. However, the bank advises customers requiring specific services to verify availability beforehand, rather than assuming these locations provide the full range of services offered at traditional bank branches.
