Footballing students from Whitworth Community High School are celebrating after five teams secured local league titles and two added cup victories in a standout season.
Girls' Under-15s Achieve Double
The under-15s girls team won both the league and the cup. Will Cawley, head of PE, said: "They have had a great season and we can't wait for next year to begin."
Year 11 Boys Dominate
The Year 11 boys also completed a league and cup double, winning all five of their games.
Year 7 Boys Claim League Title Despite Final Loss
Although the final match against All Saints did not go their way, the Year 7 boys' earlier successes secured the league title. Captain Oscar Pollit-Donnan, 12, said: "The rest of the games we had a decent team, but our attacking was bit better than our defending. I think our team will carry on playing together into next year, but we probably need a couple more defenders." Oscar also plays for Bacup in football and cricket.
Year 9 Boys Lose Only One Match
The Year 9 boys won their league after losing just one match. Captain Andrew Brien, 14, said: "We only lost one match. Our final game was against Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School and it ended 4-4. Our scorers were Alfie Farrel, Mason Hayhurst scored two and I got one."
Year 10 Boys Edge BRGS
The Year 10 boys faced BRGS in their final league match and won 3-2. Captain Harrison Wright, 15, said: "Our scorers were Jaden Okoye and Isaac Taylor who scored twice. We have been strong all season and many of us have played together as a team since Year 7."
Mr Cawley added: "Every team has done amazing this season and worked so hard together."
