Ystradgynlais AFC has confirmed the sudden death of 21-year-old footballer Finley Brookman, known as Finn, from Ystalyfera in Wales. The club paid tribute to a player who made a positive impact on many lives and 'lit up every room he walked into.'
Club Tribute to a 'True Gentleman'
A spokesperson for Ystradgynlais AFC said: 'Everyone at Ystradgynlais AFC is shocked and saddened by the news of Finn Brookman’s passing. A true gentleman, with a smile that lit up every single room he walked into, and every pitch he stepped foot on too.'
The statement continued: 'We know everyone connected with the club holds so many wonderful, fond memories of Finn, moments shared, laughs had, and times we’ll keep close forever. Our deepest, sincerest sympathy goes out to Finn’s whole family, his friends, and absolutely everyone lucky enough to have known him. The club has lost such a special part of its heart, and he will be missed more than words can say. Rest easy, sleep tight Finn - never forgotten, always remembered.'
Wider Football Community Mourns
Godrergraig Athletic AFC also shared a tribute, stating: 'It’s with a heavy heart we share this tragic news, the passing of Finley 'Finn' Brookman. As a club we are devastated, our immediate thoughts are with his family and friends in such a difficult time. Also Ystradgynlais AFC who meant so much to Finn. United as a football community [and] a community as a whole we will always remember the positive impact Finn brought on [and] off the field, that cheeky smile will be missed.'
Cilfrew Football Club added: 'Rest easy, Finn. Gone far too soon, but never forgotten.'
