Passengers using Birmingham Airport (BHX) are being warned to build in significant extra time for their journeys next week as essential overnight roadworks are scheduled around the airport site.
Essential Overnight Roadworks Schedule
The temporary road closures will be in force on the approach roads surrounding the airport on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 November 2025 to allow for crucial resurfacing work. The closures will run from 8pm on Tuesday until approximately 4am on Wednesday morning.
Airport officials have confirmed the work will be divided into two distinct phases to manage the disruption:
- Phase 1: 8pm – 1.30am
- Phase 2: 1.30am – 3.30am
Impact on Passengers and Diversion Routes
All drivers heading to the airport during these hours are strongly advised to follow the signed diversions that will be in place to guide motorists. The airport has issued specific advice for those using Car Park 5, who should access it via the Drop Off car park entrance before proceeding through to park.
Drivers are reminded not to park in the Drop Off area, which remains strictly for drop-offs and is complimentary for a maximum of 10 minutes only. All other airport car parks will remain open and accessible throughout the works.
For those relying on public transport, bus services will continue to operate but will follow the same diversion routes, meaning longer journey times are highly likely.
Planning Your Journey to BHX
In an official statement, Birmingham Airport apologised for any inconvenience caused, emphasising that the resurfacing is "essential to maintaining safe and efficient access routes" for the thousands of passengers and vehicles that use the airport every day.
Travellers who are departing or arriving overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday are strongly encouraged to check the latest travel updates and plan their journey well in advance to avoid potential delays and ensure they reach their flights on time.
