Birmingham Airport has issued final summer travel advice for families planning a last-minute getaway before the new school term begins. With schools in Birmingham returning on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, according to Birmingham City Council term dates, families have just one more week to enjoy a holiday without disruption.
In an Instagram video, the airport highlighted where families can pick up summer essentials after passing through security. The advice includes recommendations for sunglasses and children's travel bags, aimed at keeping little ones entertained during the journey.
Airport Offers and Recommendations
The airport's social media post said: "Are you traveling with the family via the Birmingham airport this summer? Well, we have a few offers and recommendations for you to ensure that you and your little ones make the most before boarding your flight after security."
Families are directed to Sunglass Hut, where a wide range of sunglasses is available. For children, brands such as Ray-Ban, Versace, and Dolce and Gabbana are on offer. A special deal provides 30% off a pair of kids' sunglasses when a pair of adult sunglasses is purchased.
Keeping Children Entertained
At WH Smith, travellers can buy a travel bag for children, available in pink or blue. Each bag contains a colouring book, pencils, a card game, a sticker sheet, and toys. The airport described the bags as suitable for ages 5 and above, calling them "the perfect treat to keep the family entertained while traveling."
These recommendations come as many families across the West Midlands prepare for the final week of the summer holidays. The airport's advice aims to help parents manage the post-security experience smoothly, reducing stress before boarding.
With schools reopening on 1 September, the airport's guidance offers practical options for families to make the most of their remaining holiday time. The 30% discount and travel bags are available at the terminal's retail outlets, providing last-minute solutions for travellers.
