Dubai Flights Resume to 70 Destinations Amid Regional Crisis
Major travel operators in the United Arab Emirates are resuming flight services to dozens of destinations as operations gradually restart despite the ongoing Middle East crisis. Airlines including Etihad, Emirates, and Fly Dubai have announced the reopening of bookings for numerous routes, marking a significant development for travelers affected by recent disruptions.
Etihad's Operational Update
Etihad Airways has confirmed it will operate 21 outbound and 25 inbound flights as bookings open for more than 70 destinations. This comes as the conflict between Iran and the United States continues in the Gulf region, creating challenging conditions for air travel.
The airline has announced that rebookings are available to passengers with tickets issued on or before February 28th for travel up to March 21st. These passengers can select new departure dates until May 15th. Additionally, Etihad stated that refunds are available for all flights scheduled until March 21st, providing flexibility for those whose travel plans have been disrupted.
Emirates' Partial Resumption
Meanwhile, Emirates flights have resumed on a partial basis, with travelers now able to book tickets for more than 80 cities worldwide. The airline has implemented similar accommodation measures for affected passengers.
Customers facing cancellations or delays for travel between February 28th and March 31st can either request a full refund or rebook on an alternate flight for travel until April 30th. This policy aims to minimize inconvenience during this period of uncertainty.
Regional Context
The flight resumptions occur against a backdrop of escalating military actions in the region. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently announced that attacks on Iran would intensify, describing upcoming operations as "our most intense day of strikes inside Iran" since Washington launched military actions ten days prior.
Hegseth made these remarks during a news conference at the Pentagon, highlighting the volatile security situation that airlines must navigate as they restore services.
