Budget airline easyJet has revealed plans to significantly expand its operations from Birmingham Airport in 2026 with the introduction of two brand-new summer routes.
New Destinations from the Midlands
The expansion will see easyJet launch its first-ever flights from Birmingham to the Scottish Highland city of Inverness, as well as increasing connectivity to the sunny French Riviera with a new service to Nice. This development comes as the airline celebrates its 30th anniversary, reinforcing its commitment to providing affordable travel options for UK customers.
The new Inverness route is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, perfectly timed for the Easter holiday period. This marks the first time a direct flight from Birmingham to the northerly Scottish destination has been available. The service will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, making long weekends exploring the Moray Firth area more accessible than ever for Brummies.
Flight Schedule and Holiday Packages
Flights to the south of France will begin slightly later, with the Nice route taking off from Friday, May 1, 2026. This service will also operate on a Monday and Friday schedule. For travellers seeking a complete package, easyJet holidays is offering combined flight and hotel deals to Nice, providing a seamless booking experience for a Mediterranean getaway.
These two new routes complement easyJet's recently confirmed service to Rome, which is set to begin from Birmingham on Friday, March 5, 2026. Together, they substantially increase the airline's offering from its BHX base.
Airline and Airport Statements
Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK Country Manager, commented on the expansion: "In our 30th year, we're still as committed as ever to making travel easy and affordable for our customers in the UK. With two new routes to Nice and Inverness now available to book from Birmingham Airport for next summer, along with our new route to Rome, we're continuing to provide our customers in the Midlands with even more choice and connectivity at fantastic fares."
Al Titterington, Terminal Operations Director at Birmingham Airport, expressed his delight: "We're delighted that easyJet has once again responded to our customer's needs by expanding its offering from Birmingham Airport for Summer 2026 with new services to Nice and Inverness. These additional routes provide much-needed choice for our passengers with Inverness being an all-new destination, whilst Nice accompanies existing services – strengthening our connectivity."
Titterington also highlighted easyJet's remarkable growth since first basing aircraft at the airport last year, noting the carrier now operates over 40 direct routes from Birmingham. Airport officials are confident these new services will prove extremely popular with travellers seeking both domestic and European escapes.
