EasyJet Announces Major Expansion with Six New UK-Morocco Routes
Budget airline easyJet has revealed a significant expansion of its services, launching six new routes to Morocco, including key connections from Birmingham and Newcastle. This development comes as the carrier officially opens a new three-aircraft base in Marrakech, Morocco, a strategic move expected to generate approximately 100 new jobs in the region.
New Winter Routes Now Available for Booking
The newly announced routes are part of easyJet's winter schedule, with several already on sale. These include Prague to Marrakech, operating twice weekly from October 25, and Newcastle to Marrakech, starting November 3, 2026, with two flights per week. Additionally, Zurich to Marrakech will commence on October 28, 2026, also offering two weekly services.
Additional Routes to Launch Later This Spring
Further expansions are set to follow, with three more routes becoming available for booking later this spring. These will include Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir, and notably, Birmingham to Agadir. This brings the total number of easyJet routes to Morocco to an impressive 58, with 30 specifically serving Marrakech.
CEO Comments on Milestone Achievement
Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "We couldn't be happier to inaugurate our base in Morocco during our 20th year of operations in the country, marking the milestone of 20 million passengers flown over that period." He emphasized that this expansion represents a key step in the airline's regional development, offering more travel opportunities for customers and boosting the local economy through tourism and job creation.
The new routes are expected to enhance travel options for UK passengers, particularly from Birmingham, providing greater accessibility to popular Moroccan destinations like Agadir and Marrakech. This move underscores easyJet's commitment to expanding its network and supporting economic growth in both the UK and Morocco.
