Garnacho joins Aston Villa on loan with £43m obligation

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with a conditional obligation to buy the 22-year-old winger for approximately £43m if he plays a specified number of matches next season.

Martinez's praise for Garnacho

Garnacho, who has previously played alongside Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez for Argentina, received high praise from his compatriot after making his international debut. "He is a very humble guy. He came to work, he didn't talk a lot. He is very eager to play," Martinez said. "The truth is that he's a little treasure and I hope we can mould him so that he gives us as much as Angel Di Maria."

Villa confirm signing

Villa announced Garnacho's arrival on Thursday, with manager Unai Emery expressing his delight. "We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy," Emery said.

What the deal means

The loan deal includes a conditional obligation to buy, reportedly around £43m, which will be triggered if Garnacho makes a certain number of appearances for Villa in the upcoming season. This structure allows Villa to assess the player's fit before committing fully, while Chelsea secure a potential future fee.
