Holidaymakers flying from the East Midlands have seen two popular routes axed from next summer's schedule. Jet2 has confirmed it will no longer operate services to Costa de Almeria in Spain and Split in Croatia from East Midlands Airport for the summer 2026 season.
Routes withdrawn following operational review
The airline made the decision following a recent review of its flying programme from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire airport. Both destinations have now been removed as bookable options on the Jet2 website for travel during that period.
A spokesperson for Jet2 explained the move, stating: "As a successful business, we are constantly reviewing our flying programme in response to demand. While this gives us the ability to add more award-winning flights and holidays, we may also very occasionally withdraw flights."
Agadir launch delayed and customer options
In a further adjustment to its schedule, the carrier has also pushed back the launch of its new service to Agadir in Morocco. Flights to the North African destination will now commence in winter 2026/27, rather than as previously planned.
The airline has pledged to contact all customers whose travel plans are impacted by these changes. A full refund will be offered to any affected holidaymaker who wishes to cancel their booking.
The spokesperson added: "We will contact all affected customers to let them know their options, which include a full refund should they wish. We are still offering customers plenty of choice when it comes to enjoying a holiday in Winter 25/26, Summer 2026 and beyond from East Midlands Airport."
What happens next for passengers?
Passengers who had booked flights to Costa de Almeria or Split for summer 2026 should expect direct communication from Jet2 outlining their choices. The airline has emphasised its continued commitment to the airport, despite these specific route withdrawals.
The changes were first reported on 4th December 2025, with the airline's statement providing clarity on the future of its operations from the regional hub. Jet2 maintains that a wide selection of other destinations will remain available for travellers from the East Midlands.
