Birmingham Airport Adds 14 New Destinations
Birmingham Airport has announced 14 new routes for summer 2025, expanding connectivity to popular holiday spots and business hubs. The new services include flights to Marrakech (Morocco), Dalaman (Turkey), and Verona (Italy), operated by Jet2, Ryanair, and TUI respectively.
East Midlands Airport Unveils 10 New Services
East Midlands Airport will launch 10 new routes, including flights to Antalya (Turkey), Faro (Portugal), and Larnaca (Cyprus). Ryanair will operate six of these, while Jet2 will add four. The airport expects to handle over 4 million passengers in 2025, up 15% from 2024.
New Long-Haul Flights from Birmingham
Birmingham Airport will also see new long-haul services to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) with Saudia, and to Orlando (USA) with Virgin Atlantic. The Orlando route will operate three times a week from May 2025.
Impact on Local Economy and Travel
The new routes are expected to boost tourism and business travel in the Midlands. According to airport officials, the expansion will create over 500 jobs and generate an additional £50 million for the regional economy. Tom Screen, aviation director at Birmingham Airport, said: "These new routes demonstrate the strong demand for travel from the Midlands and our commitment to providing greater choice for passengers."

Airline Responses and Future Plans
Ryanair's spokesperson said: "We are delighted to expand our network from East Midlands, offering customers even more choice for summer getaways at the lowest fares." Jet2's CEO added: "The new routes from both airports reflect our continued investment in the Midlands region." Both airports are also in talks with other carriers to add more destinations in winter 2025.
