Red Arrows at Midlands Air Festival: Dates and Details

Red Arrows Set for Spectacular Midlands Air Festival Appearance

The iconic Red Arrows, the UK's largest military aerobatic team, are confirmed to perform at the Midlands Air Festival this year. This event marks the very first opportunity to witness the team's new season display at an inland UK air show, promising an unforgettable experience for aviation enthusiasts and families alike.

Stellar Lineup of Aircraft and Displays

The festival will showcase a remarkable array of display aircraft from across the UK and Europe. Highlights include the rare Cold War-era MiG 17F jet fighter from Poland and the Grumman Turbo Firecat from France, which will perform its inaugural fire bombing demonstration in the UK, dropping over 3,000 litres of water in just four seconds.

Team Raven, the largest civilian display team in the UK, will also take to the skies. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will feature a Spitfire and Hurricane, accompanied by a Douglas DC-3 Dakota while the Lancaster undergoes maintenance.

Adding to the historic aviation theme, the world's only Westland Whirlwind search and rescue helicopter will make its debut display after a lengthy restoration, flying alongside a giant Sea King helicopter.

Hot Air Balloon Festival and Event Details

In addition to the aerial displays, the festival includes a major hot air balloon event with over 150 giant, multi-coloured balloons. Many of these are special 'character' balloons, most standing over 100 feet tall, such as Smiley Scarecrow, Fly Alien, Busby the King's Guardsman, Orient Express, and Iggy the Friendly Dragon.

The Midlands Air Festival will be held at the beautiful estate grounds of historic Ragley Hall in Alcester from May 29 to 31. The Red Arrows are scheduled to perform on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31. While exact timings for their display have not been announced, the air display segments are set from 12:00 PM to 2:45 PM and 3:45 PM to 6:30 PM on both days, with the Red Arrows appearing within these windows.

The festival kicks off on Friday evening, May 29, with the signature 'Nightfire' show, featuring pyrotechnic air displays, balloon ascents, Fireglow, and a massive fireworks finale. This event promises a weekend packed with excitement, combining cutting-edge aerobatics with nostalgic aviation history and colourful balloon spectacles.
