A Ryanair flight from Malaga to Edinburgh experienced a minor technical issue on Wednesday morning, prompting the crew to issue an emergency code before landing safely. Flight FR5090 departed from Malaga shortly after 6am and transmitted a 7700 squawk code—the universal signal for a general emergency—as it approached Edinburgh Airport. The aircraft landed normally just after 8am, surrounded by emergency services as a precaution.
Ryanair confirms minor technical issue
Ryanair confirmed that the aircraft suffered a minor technical issue and was inspected by engineers following standard procedures. A spokesperson said: "This flight from Malaga to Edinburgh (22 Jul) experienced a minor technical issue before landing normally at Edinburgh Airport. Passengers disembarked normally and the aircraft was subsequently inspected by our engineers in accordance with established procedures."
Separate incident: passenger sucked out of window
In a separate Ryanair incident, a 61-year-old man was partially sucked out of a shattered window during a flight from Thessaloniki to Memmingen. Ljubisa Karović, a Serbian national, suffered burns and bruises on his right arm and must wear a neck brace for at least six weeks. He recalled: "The explosion is what I remember. It's the noise before the chaos, the noise that is always there when I close my eyes to sleep. I am lucky. I don’t remember much, and my head and neck still hurt, but I am still alive. It could have been the seatbelt, the fact that I was still strapped in. But maybe it is fate. I believe in God, and I thank him every day."
