St Andrew's Pitch Gets Summer Makeover Ahead of Birmingham City Pre-Season
St Andrew's Pitch Makeover Ahead of Blues Pre-Season

Birmingham City's St Andrew's pitch has received a summer makeover to prepare for the 2026/27 Championship season. The ground staff have been working diligently during the players' break, ensuring the turf is in top condition for the upcoming campaign.

Pitch Renovations Underway

Head groundsman Chris Long has documented the renovations on his X account, showcasing new sprinklers and the exposed kerb line around the turf. The blue carpet surrounding the pitch will also be cleaned as the grass grows. Knighthead invested £1 million on a new pitch in 2023, and Long's team maintained it well despite heavy use last season.

Busy Schedule Ahead

Blues' pre-season begins at the end of June, with most matches away from St Andrew's. A showpiece friendly is likely before the EFL season starts on August 8-9. The Carabao Cup first round takes place that weekend, followed by the league opener on August 15-16.

Last season, St Andrew's hosted 44 matches, including pre-season games against Solihull Moors and Nottingham Forest, and England under-21s' victory over the Republic of Ireland. The ground staff's efforts kept the pitch in relatively good condition throughout.
