The journey, intended to celebrate her daughter Heidi's sixth birthday, was plagued by an uncomfortable flight experience and extended security interrogations for some members of her travel party.
Problematic Passenger and Flight Discomfort
Sue Radford acknowledged on social media that the holiday did not commence smoothly. She described being "stuck near someone who had serious wind issues" during the flight, which contributed to an unpleasant travel atmosphere. Despite this, she noted that the flight itself was otherwise satisfactory, but the proximity to the troublesome passenger made for a challenging start to their vacation.

The difficulties continued upon landing in the United States. The family arrived very late at night, delaying their arrival at their villa until approximately 2:30 AM local time, which corresponded to 7:30 AM in the UK. While Sue and her family breezed through security using the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app, her companions Jamie and Rebecca were not as fortunate.
Both individuals, along with several other travelers, were pulled aside for additional questioning by security personnel. This resulted in an extremely stressful beginning to their trip, with the process lasting around two and a half hours before they were permitted to leave. The MPC app, an official and free tool from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, facilitates expedited entry by allowing users to submit passport and customs declaration information via smartphone, thereby accessing dedicated, faster queues at over 30 airports and four seaports.
Recovery and Enjoyment Amidst Chaos
Following these initial setbacks, the Radford family has managed to salvage their holiday experience. They have been enjoying their time in America, including a day out at Wekiwa Springs State Park and shared picnics together. This trip comes shortly after Sue Radford's return from the Canary Islands, which followed controversy over a "tone deaf" post regarding a cancelled Dubai trip. She faced criticism for complaining about the travel company involved, with many viewers deeming her remarks insensitive given the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East region.
