Birmingham Airport shares last-minute summer travel advice for families
Birmingham Airport summer travel advice for families

Birmingham Airport has issued final summer travel advice for families planning last-minute getaways before the new school term begins. Schools in Birmingham officially return on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, according to Birmingham City Council term dates, leaving families just one more week to enjoy the holidays.

The airport shared the guidance on Instagram, featuring a video that highlights where families can pick up summer essentials throughout the terminal, including sunglasses and travel bags for children.

Offers and recommendations for families

In the video, Birmingham Airport said: "Are you traveling with the family via the Birmingham airport this summer? Well, we have a few offers and recommendations for you to ensure that you and your little ones make the most before boarding your flight after security."

One recommendation directs families to Sunglass Hut, where a wide range of sunglasses is available. For children, brands include Ray-Ban, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, and more. The airport also highlighted a promotion: customers can get 30% off a pair of kids' sunglasses when they buy a pair of adult sunglasses.

Keeping little ones entertained

Another suggestion is WH Smith, where families can purchase a travel bag for children. The bags come in pink or blue and contain items such as a colouring book and pencils, a card game, a sticker sheet, and toys. Suitable for ages five and above, the airport described it as "the perfect treat to keep the family entertained while traveling."

The advice comes as many families across Birmingham prepare for the final week of the summer break. With the return to school just days away, the airport's tips aim to help parents ensure their trips run smoothly.
