Diamond Buses to Commence Operation of Key Route 27 from Solihull to Rubery
In a significant development for local transport, Diamond Buses is set to take over the operation of the number 27 bus service, which connects Solihull to Rubery, starting from March 29, 2026. This change marks the end of National Express West Midlands' tenure on this important route, with Diamond Buses stepping in to provide the service.
New Service Details and Route Information
The new 27 service will operate between Solihull Town Centre and Rubery Great Park, running in both directions. Key stops along the route include Widney Manor Station, Solihull Road, Yardley Wood Station, and Yardley Wood Bus Station. Additionally, the service will make stops at Vicarage Road in Kings Heath, Bournville Cadbury, Bell Lane in Northfield, and Holly Hill shops in Frankley.
Diamond Buses has confirmed that the service will travel via Shirley, Yardley Wood, Kings Heath, Stirchley, Bournville, Wychall, and Northfield, ensuring comprehensive coverage for passengers in these areas.
Statement from Diamond Buses
In an official announcement, Diamond Buses stated, "We are pleased to announce we will commence operation of our new 27 Solihull to Rubery from 29th March." This move is part of broader changes in the local bus network, aimed at enhancing service reliability and connectivity for commuters.
Additional Changes to Bus Services
Alongside the takeover of route 27, other adjustments are being made to bus services in the region. Specifically, the number 78 Sutton Coldfield to Streetly and the 78A Sutton Coldfield to Streetly, The Queslett, will no longer be operated by National Express Bus from March 29. These changes reflect ongoing updates to the transport network to better serve community needs.
Passengers are advised to check updated timetables and route information to plan their journeys accordingly, as these changes take effect at the end of the month.
