Jet2 Confirms No Hand Luggage Allowance Changes After EU Rules
Jet2 Confirms Hand Luggage Allowance Unchanged After EU Rules

Jet2 has confirmed to customers that its hand luggage allowance will remain unchanged as the European Commission introduces new rules designed to make air fares and baggage allowances easier to understand and compare when booking. The measures, due to come into force in 2027, aim to give passengers greater transparency around cabin baggage allowances across the airline industry.

While some airlines charge customers extra to bring hand luggage onboard, Jet2 customers already receive a free 10kg hand luggage allowance as standard, alongside a personal item. This gives customers certainty about what is included from the moment they book, according to the airline.

Jet2's Stance on New EU Rules

The award-winning airline and tour operator says customers can continue to book with confidence, knowing exactly what is included without hidden surprises or unexpected add-ons. According to Jet2, 80% of customers say the inclusion of 10kg of free hand luggage is a key reason they choose to fly with Jet2.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said: “For Jet2 customers, these new rules change nothing because we have always believed in doing the right thing by customers when it comes to hand luggage.”

CEO Highlights Commitment to Transparency

Heapy added: “Holidaymakers should not have to pay extra or figure out complicated rules just to bring their essentials on board. We have always believed in making things simple, transparent and fair, so customers know exactly what they're getting when they book.”

He also welcomed the EU's move, stating: “We welcome any move that helps customers better understand what is included in the price of their flight and make informed decisions when comparing airlines. It is another example of why customers continue to choose Jet2 in record numbers – because they know exactly what they're getting when they book.”

Recent Recognition for Jet2

Jet2 was recently named the highest-rated airline and tour operator in the July 2026 UK Customer Satisfaction Index (UKCSI). The new EU measures are expected to bring industry-wide changes to how baggage allowances are displayed, but Jet2's existing policy already aligns with the transparency goals.
