Electric vehicle drivers across the UK have a compelling reason to celebrate this Black Friday, as energy giant EDF launches a limited-time offer that promises thousands of miles of free driving.
A Lucrative Limited-Time Offer
EDF is providing a £100 account credit to customers who sign up for its special electric vehicle tariff bundle, a sum the company states is the equivalent of 4,000 free electric miles. This promotional offer is available for a short window, with customers having until the end of the day on November 30, 2025, to secure the deal.
The offer is part of EDF's Pod Point Plug & Power EV tariff bundle, which is designed to simplify and reduce the cost of switching to electric driving. This package combines a home EV charger with a fixed-rate electricity tariff that is specifically structured for affordable overnight charging.
What The Bundle Includes
Available to both new and existing EDF customers, the bundle features the Pod Point Solo 3S home EV charger. The upfront cost for the charger is being offered at a reduced price of £499, with the remaining cost spread across the two-year duration of the tariff.
The electricity-only tariff is fixed for the contract period, providing customers with price stability. It is also compatible with all electric vehicle makes and models. A key benefit is the significantly cheaper overnight electricity rate of 8.49p per kWh, available from midnight until 5 am. This low rate applies to both charging the car and general household electricity use, and it is fully backed by zero-carbon electricity.
Simplifying The Switch To Electric
Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, commented on the initiative, stating: “We know cost is one of the biggest barriers for customers switching to electric, so this Black Friday we’re offering customers nearly seven months of driving for free to use on anything from commuting, shopping, school runs and weekend trips.”
He added, “Our Plug & Power tariff makes the switch to electric driving simpler and more affordable. By reducing the upfront cost of a home charger and offering cheaper overnight rates, we help households save money while they sleep - supporting Britain’s journey to a cleaner, electric future.”
To get the deal, customers need to sign up directly through the EDF website. The company will then pass their details to Pod Point to finalise the purchase of the Solo 3S charger for the advertised £499. Eligibility for the offer requires customers to have a smart meter installed and to be opted into half-hourly meter readings. The £100 credit will be applied to the customer's account within 60 days of signing the tariff agreement.
