A person has died following an incident on a railway line in Kidderminster, British Transport Police have confirmed.
Emergency response
Emergency services were called at around 5.20am on Monday, May 18, to reports of a 'casualty on the tracks' in Kidderminster. Paramedics and police officers attended the scene on Mill Lane, Hoobrook, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police statement
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: 'We were called to an area of the line in Kidderminster at around 5.20am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics, but sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.'
Ambulance service details
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson added: 'We were called to an incident on Mill Lane, Hoobrook, Kidderminster at 5.23am. We sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT doctor with a critical care paramedic and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene. On arrival, crews found a patient. Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene.'
Train disruption
Following the incident, no trains were able to run between Droitwich Spa and Kidderminster for several hours. All lines were cleared and reopened by 8.45am, but passengers were warned that trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes, or revised. Disruption was expected until around 10am.
