Ryanair has introduced a little-known twilight bag drop service at three UK airports: Birmingham, Manchester, and Edinburgh. The service allows passengers on early morning flights (departing before 8:00 am or 9:00 am depending on the airport) to drop their checked bags the evening before, between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
Service Details at Manchester Airport
At Manchester Airport, the service is available free of charge to all Ryanair passengers. Customers are advised to proceed to the check-in desks and follow signage for ‘Twilight Bag Drop’. Ryanair’s Head of Comms, Jade Kirwan, said: “As Manchester’s No.1 airline, we’re delighted to launch our new ‘Twilight Bag Drop’ service for all our customers travelling from Manchester Airport this summer. This complimentary service will further improve our passengers’ overall travel experience and further reduce airport queuing times for those taking early morning flights.”
Service at Birmingham Airport
Birmingham Airport (BHX) confirmed: “We now offer a range of twilight check‑in services for multiple airlines, allowing you to drop your bags the evening before your flight.” For Ryanair, operating hours run from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and all flights departing the following day up to 09:00 are eligible for the service in zone B.
Impact and Availability
The initiative is designed to ease the airport journey for early morning travelers, particularly families or groups. The service is currently available at Manchester Airport’s Terminal 3, desks 36-37, and at Birmingham and Edinburgh airports with similar arrangements.
