Birmingham's New Railway Stations Approved by Regulators Ahead of Historic Opening
Three new railway stations in Birmingham have received the official seal of approval from rail regulators, clearing the way for their long-awaited opening. The stations at Moseley, Kings Heath, and Pineapple Road on the Camp Hill line are set to welcome passengers for the first time on Tuesday, April 7, marking a significant milestone in the city's transport history.
Restoring Services After Decades
The Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the national rail regulator, has authorized the three new facilities, allowing passenger services to return to the Camp Hill line for the first time since the Second World War. This approval comes after more than 80 years without regular train services in these areas, representing a major boost for local connectivity.
Service Details and Timetables
West Midlands Railway will operate services twice an hour between Birmingham New Street and Kings Norton, stopping at the new stations. Journey times to the city centre are estimated at around 12 minutes from Moseley Village, 15 minutes from Kings Heath, and 17 minutes from Pineapple Road.
From Birmingham New Street to Kings Norton:
- First train: 6.27am Monday to Friday, 6.28am Saturday, 9.27am Sunday
- Last train: 10.57pm Monday to Friday, 11pm Saturday, 10.27pm Sunday
From Kings Norton to Birmingham New Street:
- First train: 6.30am Monday to Friday, 6.50am Saturday, 9.50am Sunday
- Last train: 11.20pm Monday to Saturday, 10.50pm Sunday

The ORR's authorization covers the stations' new features, which include step-free access via new lifts, providing fully accessible connections between platforms. Additional amenities such as car and cycle parking will also be available, ensuring the stations meet contemporary transport needs.
