Jet2 app adds live flight updates 72 hours before departure

Jet2 has confirmed the launch of new mobile app functionality that gives passengers access to live flight times, flight status and updates from 72 hours before their departure. The feature went live today and forms part of the airline’s continued investment in its digital customer experience.

The update applies to all Jet2 customers with flights booked, including those flying from Birmingham. It allows travellers to see accurate and timely information about their flight in the crucial three-day window before take-off. Jet2 said the feature is designed to provide customers with the details they need most at the point they need them.

In-resort helper details now available in app

Alongside the flight information, the app now also shows customers details about how and when they can meet their Jet2 in-resort Customer Helper. Users can view visit times, locations and the helper’s name directly through the app. Jet2 said this on-the-go access to accurate visit information improves customer satisfaction while also boosting operational effectiveness.

The latest updates reflect Jet2’s ongoing focus on reviewing and evolving its digital offering in line with what customers want most, particularly around simplicity, ease, speed, reliability and award-winning customer service. The company said it continues to invest in delivering its industry-leading customer experience, including digitally, to make holidays simpler, smoother and more convenient.

Expansion of live transfer tracking

This is not the first digital innovation from Jet2. Last year, the company launched its pioneering ‘Live Transfer Status’ app functionality, which made Jet2 the first UK tour operator to enable customers to track their coach transfer to the departure airport in real time. That feature gave customers added reassurance and contributed to a significant reduction in call volumes.

The live transfer tracking is already available to Jet2 customers taking a coach transfer back to their departure airport when returning home from holidays in the Balearics, Canaries, Mainland Spain, Morocco, Turkey and Bulgaria. This summer, the functionality is expanding to Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Faro and Madeira.

Jet2 chief customer officer comments

David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Jet2, said: “We are always looking at how we can continually improve the experience for our customers and digital innovation is a critical part of that. We are very pleased to be launching this new app functionality, which makes travelling with Jet2 even easier and more convenient. By putting more real-time information in our customer’s hands, we are improving our industry-leading customer experience even further. This is part of our continued investment in delivering the very best customer service there is, and it is another example of how we are continuing to evolve our app and digital offering in response to what customers want from us.”

The new 72-hour flight information feature is available now to all Jet2 customers through the airline’s mobile app.
