Birmingham's New Camp Hill Line Stations Timetable and Opening Date Announced

Rail authorities have officially unveiled the comprehensive timetable for services that will operate at three brand new railway stations in Birmingham, marking a significant milestone in the region's transport infrastructure.

Historic Reopening After Decades

The new stations on the Camp Hill line—located at Moseley, Kings Heath, and Pineapple Road—are scheduled to open to the public on April 7, 2026. This development will restore passenger services to these areas for the first time since 1941, ending an 85-year hiatus. The line originates at Birmingham New Street and terminates at Kings Norton, with the new stations serving as intermediate stops along this revitalized route.

Major Investment and Modern Facilities

These new facilities are a key component of a substantial £185 million project that also includes the construction of two additional stations in Walsall at Willenhall and Darlaston. Construction on all five stations was finalized just before Christmas, and current efforts are focused on final testing and preparations to ensure they are fully operational for passengers.

The project has delivered stations built to contemporary standards, featuring:

  • Sheltered platforms for weather protection
  • Accessible lifts to enhance mobility
  • Modern ticket machines for convenient purchases
  • Secure cycle racks to support sustainable travel

Collaborative Delivery and Community Impact

The stations have been developed through a partnership involving the Department for Transport, West Midlands Railway, Network Rail, as well as Walsall and Birmingham City councils. Upon the announcement of the opening dates, West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker emphasized the project's significance, stating: "Closing those stations during the last century was a short-sighted mistake which has now been put right—no longer will residents have to watch every day as trains rush past without stopping."

He added: "These vital new services will not only restore a historic link between the railways and our communities, they will create a new lifeline for local people—supporting our high streets, opening up new opportunities and connections, and driving economic growth." This initiative is poised to enhance connectivity, boost local economies, and provide residents with improved transport options across the region.
