Rail passengers in Birmingham are facing significant delays this morning after a trespasser was reported on the line near Birmingham New Street station. The incident, which occurred shortly before 8am, has led to widespread disruption across the West Midlands rail network.

British Transport Police confirmed they were called to the scene at approximately 7:45am following reports of a person on the tracks. Services on several routes, including CrossCountry, West Midlands Railway, and Avanti West Coast, have been affected. Passengers are advised to check their journeys and allow extra time.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "We are working with emergency services to resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible. We apologize to passengers for the inconvenience and thank them for their patience."
