Overview of Temporary Traffic Orders in Brentwood

Essex County Council has issued a series of temporary traffic orders across the Borough of Brentwood, with works programmed from late June into July 2026. The statutory notice was published in the Brentwood Gazette and is also available on the Public Notice Portal. Dates may change and will be shown on advance warning signs and on one.network. Access for emergency services will be maintained.

West Horndon – Little Warley Hall Lane

Closure for approximately 150m about 375m north west of the St Marys Lane junction. Scheduled from July 13, 2026 for 11 days under permit BC410LO00000500351160205 for Openreach duct laying. Diversion via Warley Hall Lane, St Marys Lane, Childerditch Lane and the A127 as signed.

South Weald and Brentwood – Nags Head Lane and Brook Street

Closure of Nags Head Lane for approximately 145m from Brook Street, and a temporary no right turn from Brook Street into Nags Head Lane for the duration. Scheduled from July 6, 2026 for 14 days under permits EP003S50-2411 and EP003S50-2411BS for Crest Nicholson drainage works. Diversion via Brook Street, Mascalls Lane and Warley Road, with access only into Nags Head Lane.

Kelvedon Hatch – Ongar Road

Closure from Church Road to School Road for approximately 125m. One night on July 9, 2026 from 7pm to 4am under permit EP10000016917 for Essex County Council bollard replacement. Diversion via the A128, A1023, A12, A414 and A128.

Stondon Massey – Ongar Road

Closure from Chivers Road to Nine Ashes Road for approximately 715m, with a temporary clearway (no waiting, no loading and no stopping) for the duration. Scheduled from July 13, 2026 for 26 days under permit EP201EH2407938 for Essex County Council culvert repairs. Diversion via Tipps Cross Lane, Hook End Lane, Hook End Road, Blackmore Road, Brentwood Road and Stondon Road.

Herongate – Rectory Lane

Closure from Brentwood Road to Billericay Road for approximately 85m. Scheduled from July 13 2026 for 5 days under permit EP201EH2403276 for Essex County Council carriageway patching. Diversion via Billericay Road and Brentwood Road.

Mountnessing – Swallows Cross Road and Thoby Lane

Closure from Wyatts Green Road to Roman Road for approximately 2.26km. Three night closures from July 13, 2026, 7.30pm to 11 30pm, under permit EP201EH2406405 for Essex County Council drainage works. Diversion via the B1002, Fryerning Lane, Blackmore Road, Mill Green Road, Ingatestone Road, Chelmsford Road and Mountnessing Road.

Brentwood – The Limes

Closure from Lime Avenue to Beech Avenue for approximately 85m. Scheduled from July 13, 2026 for 2 days under permit BC411001WGMGJV6J for Openreach pole replacement. Local diversion via The Limes, Lime Avenue and Beech Avenue.

Various Roads (Brentwood) – Temporary Closures and Clearway (No.5)

Works will occur in phases within 18 months from June 24, 2026, with dates to be confirmed on one.network and by letter drop. Locations include Shevon Way (approximately 400m), Lindsey Close (approximately 105m), Westbourne Drive (approximately 305m) and Lilley Close (approximately 110m). No signed diversions available. A temporary clearway will apply when signed.

Blackmore – Blackmore Road (near Wenlocks Lane)

Closure approximately 40m, about 305m south west of Wenlocks Lane. Scheduled from July 1 2026 for 2 days under permit BC411001WGSHKL0N for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Blackmore Road, Ongar Road and Nine Ashes Road.

Blackmore – Blackmore Road (near Meadow Rise)

Closure approximately 30m, about 75m south west of Meadow Rise. Scheduled from July 2, 2026 for two days under permit BC411001WGNVP60N for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Blackmore Road, Nine Ashes Road and Ongar Road.

Stondon Massey – Chivers Road

Closure approximately 20m, about 125m south east of Clapgate West. Scheduled from July 2 2026 for 2 days under permit BC411001WGNVT47X for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Chivers Road, Ongar Road, Tipps Cross Lane, Hook End Lane, Hook End Road, Blackmore Road and School Road.

Pilgrims Hatch – Crow Green Road

Closure approximately 55m between its two junctions with Days Lane. Scheduled from July 2, 2026 for two days under permit BC411001WGSVTJ3F for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Days Lane.

Pilgrims Hatch – Cornwall Road

Closures from Gloucester Road for approximately 85m south east and from Balmoral Road for approximately 85m north then north east. Scheduled from June 29, 2026 for three days under permit EP201EH2399541 for Essex County Council carriageway patching. Diversion via Balmoral Road and Gloucester Road.

Mountnessing – Hall Lane

Closure approximately 95m north east from Padhams Green Road. Scheduled from July 1, 2026 for two days under permit BC411001WGLJ1G5V for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Hall Lane, Station Lane, Roman Road, Mountnessing – Ingatestone Link Road and Church Road.

Hook End – Hay Green Lane

Closure approximately 55m, about 390m north east of Mill Lane. Scheduled from July 3, 2026 for four days under permit BC411001WGQHHJ7X for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Hay Green Lane, Hook End Road, Hook End Lane, Blackmore Road, Wenlocks Lane and Ingatestone Road.

Little Warley – Little Warley Hall Lane

Closure approximately 45m, about 120m north east of Rectory Chase. Scheduled from July 3, 2026 for four days under permit BC411001WGSP2G4T for Openreach pole replacement. Signed routes will operate clockwise via Magpie Lane, Bird Lane, Warley Street and the A127 or anti clockwise via the A127 and local lanes.

Great Warley – Mascalls Lane

Closure approximately 45m, about 35m south east of Great Ropers Lane. Scheduled from July 1 2026 for two days under permit BC411001WGRK267X for Openreach pole replacement. Diversion via Mascalls Lane, Brook Street, Nags Head Lane and Warley Road.

Navestock – Snakes Hill

Closure approximately 550m from Navestock Side in a south easterly direction. Scheduled from July 5, 2026 for one day under permit EP02231014544 for Tilhill Forestry tree cutting. Diversion via Navestock Side, Wheelers Lane, Coxtie Green Road and Mores Lane.

What Restrictions Apply During Clearway Periods?

A temporary clearway means no waiting, no loading and no stopping on the signed sections while works take place. Existing parking and waiting restrictions are suspended on the affected lengths only for the duration shown on the signs.
