Solihull Council has been compelled to execute a swift correction after contractors painted inaccurate road markings on a major roundabout, causing significant confusion and safety concerns for motorists. Recovery truck driver Wayne, a daily user of the roundabout from Dickens Heath, immediately noticed the problem.
The 54-year-old reported: "The incorrect placing of the lines were causing a lot of confusion to everyone who had used the roundabout in the past. The middle lane that was originally posted for the A34 which took you into Hall Green suddenly disappeared and went towards Olton."
He elaborated that the left lane, which typically leads down Stratford Road towards Hall Green, unexpectedly split into two, leaving drivers struggling to comprehend the new layout. Wayne emphasized the absence of signage indicating any changes, prompting him to alert authorities.

Councillor Sharma intervened after receiving numerous reports from concerned residents and road users. Coun Sharma stated: "Last week, I reported the misaligned white lines around Poppy Island after receiving messages from concerned residents and road users. Working with highways officers, the misaligned road markings have been corrected and completed earlier this week."
A spokesperson for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council confirmed that the issue was identified on Monday, March 9, and promptly reported to the contractor. The contractor attended the site on Monday, March 16, successfully removing the incorrect markings and reinstating the proper layout.
