Appeal Launched After Serious M6 Hit-and-Run Crash
Police have launched an urgent appeal to find the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash on the M6 motorway that left two children injured, one with serious injuries. The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway near Henley in Warwickshire in the early hours of Monday, November 24.
Details of the Early Morning Collision
The incident took place shortly after midnight, at around 12:30am between junctions 2 and 3. It involved a collision between a black Range Rover Evoque and a black Land Rover Discovery Sport. The force of the impact was such that one of the vehicles was left smoking and on its side, according to officers who attended the scene.
Emergency services were called at 12:29am, with West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatching two ambulances and a paramedic officer. Upon arrival, crews found one car on its side. The first patient, a girl, was located outside the vehicle and was treated for serious injuries before being rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
A second girl sustained more minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the seriously injured child's condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Road Closures and Police Investigation
The serious nature of the crash led to the closure of the northbound carriageway for several hours to allow for emergency response and initial investigation. The road remained shut until approximately 5am, causing significant disruption to early morning travel.
Warwickshire Police are now conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision. A spokesperson for the force confirmed that no arrests have been made and they are actively seeking the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
