The passenger, a woman, sustained serious injuries and required extrication with assistance from fire service colleagues. She received immediate trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene before being transported to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment. The driver, a man, was also taken to the same hospital for precautionary checks.
The woman is reported to have suffered a potentially life-changing leg injury and remained hospitalized as of Tuesday, March 17. Her condition underscores the severity of the collision.

A 27-year-old man from the Stafford area was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving a motor vehicle with an alcohol level above the legal limit. He has since been released on conditional bail while police continue their enquiries.
