A junction on the M6 northbound has been closed by police following a serious crash that occurred just after 5:00 AM on Thursday, May 14, between Junction 14 for Stafford and Junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent.
Police and Emergency Services at Scene
Staffordshire Police are on the scene, and National Highways has implemented strategic closures on the approach. Motorists are warned of delays of approximately one hour as crews deal with a fuel spillage and a damaged barrier.
Official Statement from National Highways
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "The M6 in Staffordshire is closed northbound between J14 (Stafford) and J15 (Stoke on Trent) following a serious collision that occurred at approximately 05:10 AM. Staffordshire police are leading the response at this stage with collision investigation work ongoing. Traffic Officers are on scene and assisting with strategic closures on the approach with plans being made to release the traffic caught within the closure. Specialist contractors have also been tasked to attend the scene to treat a large fuel spillage and to inspect a near side barrier that was damaged during the collision. There are delays of up to 60 minutes on the approach to the closure at J14."
Diversion Route
Northbound traffic is advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol on road signs:
- At the M6 J14, take the exit to the A34 northbound.
- Continue along the A34 northbound to its junction with the A500 at Hanford.
- Take the exit to the A500 westbound and continue to the M6 J15 roundabout.
- Rejoin the M6 northbound at J15.
