Emergency Services Rush to Scene After Man Found Injured on A46
Emergency services were called to a major Midlands dual carriageway on Tuesday night after a man was discovered with critical injuries on the road.
Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service crews were dispatched to the southbound carriageway of the A46 Kenilworth bypass, near Ashow, following reports of an injured person.
The incident occurred between junction 4 for Stoneleigh and junction 3 for Kenilworth, a busy section of the route connecting Coventry and the M40.
Despite Extensive Efforts, Man Pronounced Deceased
Upon receiving a 999 call from police at 9:22pm on Tuesday, November 11, the ambulance service scrambled a significant response to the scene.
A spokeswoman confirmed they sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and a critical care car from the Air Ambulance Service.
When ambulance staff arrived, they found police officers already administering CPR to the man. Medical crews immediately took over advanced resuscitation efforts.
"Ambulance staff arrived to find police administering CPR to the injured man," the spokeswoman said. "Crews quickly took over resuscitation efforts but sadly nothing could be done to save the man. He was confirmed deceased on scene a short time later."
Major Road Closure Causes Significant Disruption
In the aftermath of the tragic incident, the southbound carriageway of the A46 was completely closed to allow for a thorough emergency response and subsequent investigation.
National Highways confirmed the closure and implemented a diversion, routing traffic onto local roads through the area.
The closure remained in effect for several hours, with all lanes finally reopening at around 3am on Wednesday, November 12.
Warwickshire Police has been contacted for further comment regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
