Fresh snowfall is forecast to sweep across the Midlands this Sunday, with weather maps predicting a sharp drop in temperatures and significant disruption for several towns and cities.
Snowfall Timing and Affected Areas
According to the latest data from WX Charts, the new wave of snow is expected to arrive at 9am on Sunday, January 11. This follows a series of flurries earlier in the week which already caused travel problems across the region.
A distinct purple patch on the weather maps indicates the snow's path, stretching from Birmingham and the Black Country northwards through Staffordshire.
Predicted Snow Depths and Plummeting Temperatures
The forecasts suggest varying intensities across the region. Birmingham could see around 0.6cm of snow per hour, while areas closer to Stoke may be hit harder with up to 3.1cm of accumulation.
Accompanying the snow will be a severe temperature drop. The mercury is predicted to fall below freezing from midnight on Sunday, potentially reaching a low of -3C.
