Multiple fires have broken out across the West Midlands this evening, with West Midlands Fire Service responding to incidents in Birmingham, the Black Country, and Coventry. The largest blaze has seen around 40 firefighters tackle a significant grass fire in Brownhills, Walsall.
Brownhills Grass Fire
Eight crews have been sent to the scene on Lindon Road, where the fire has resulted in multiple road closures. Buses have also been diverted as a result of the incident. The fire service has described the blaze as significant, and crews are working to bring it under control.
Blaze in Kings Norton
Meanwhile, around 25 firefighters have rushed to the scene of a large blaze in Kings Norton, Birmingham. West Midlands Fire Service said it has sent five crews, totalling an estimated 25 firefighters, to Gildas Avenue. The fire has broken out in the area, and crews are on scene.
Fires in Tipton and Coventry
Another fire has broken out in Tipton, where four crews, totalling around 20 firefighters, have attended the scene of a large grassland fire in Sheepwash Lane. Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area. Additionally, six crews have responded to a wildfire in Brownshill Green Road, Coventry.
The spate of fires comes amid ongoing hot weather, which has increased the risk of grass fires. West Midlands Fire Service has not yet provided further details on the cause of the fires or any potential injuries.
