Police are urgently appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on a major Warwickshire dual carriageway.
Tragic discovery on the A46
Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway of the A46 between Leaf Lane and Stoneleigh at approximately 9.20pm on Tuesday, November 11.
Officers discovered a man with serious injuries who is believed to have been riding a motorcycle immediately before being found. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts by paramedics and police, the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Major emergency response
The incident prompted a significant emergency service deployment, with two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service all attending the scene.
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they received the emergency call from Warwickshire Police at 9.22pm, reporting an injured man on the southbound carriageway between junctions 4 and 3 in Ashow, near Kenilworth.
An ambulance service spokeswoman stated: "Ambulance staff arrived to find police administering CPR to the injured man. Crews quickly took over resuscitation efforts but sadly nothing could be done to save the man."
Ongoing investigation and witness appeal
The southbound carriageway was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene and initial investigations were conducted.
Warwickshire Police have launched a witness appeal, urging anyone who saw a man on the carriageway before 9.20pm, or who may have witnessed a collision involving the motorcyclist, to come forward.
In an official statement, police said: "We are very grateful to those who have already been in contact with any information, but would further appeal to anyone with information which could assist with our investigation."
Parts of the motorcycle were recovered from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
