West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed that a woman was taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash at a junction in Brierley Hill yesterday afternoon.
Crash at Mill Street and Little Cottage Street junction
Emergency services were called to the junction of Mill Street and Little Cottage Street at 12:20pm on Thursday, August 20. One ambulance was dispatched to the scene, where medics discovered two patients requiring assessment.
A woman was treated at the roadside for injuries that were not believed to be serious at the time of the incident. She was subsequently transported to Russells Hall Hospital for further medical care.
Man assessed and discharged at scene
A man was also evaluated by ambulance crews at the scene of the collision. According to a spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service, the man was assessed and discharged at the location without requiring hospital transport.
In a statement, the spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a multi-vehicle RTC at the junction of Mill Street and Little Cottage Street at 12.20pm, one ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered two patients. A woman was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital. A man was assessed and discharged at the scene."
Buses diverted due to collision
The crash caused disruption to local bus services, with National Express West Midlands implementing diversions in the area. At 12:24pm on August 20, the operator posted on X: "Mill Street #BrierleyHill 2, 15, X10, 142, 142A Diverting from Merry Hill only via Level Street due to a Collison."
Services were affected for just over an hour, with National Express West Midlands confirming at 1:50pm that buses had returned to normal operations on all affected routes.
