Alton Towers Reveals Bluey Coaster Date with Bean Can Art

Alton Towers Announces Opening Date for New Bluey Rollercoaster with Unique Tribute

Alton Towers has delighted children and parents alike by revealing a massive portrait of the beloved television character Bluey, crafted entirely from bean cans. This artistic creation, made from 11,000 cans of baked beans, serves to announce the launch date of the world's inaugural Bluey rollercoaster at CBeebies Land.

Giant Artwork Unveiled Ahead of Coaster Debut

The portrait, measuring 20 by 15 metres and taking 18 hours to complete, has been installed on the theme park's lawn near CBeebies Land. It depicts Bluey in her granny disguise, complete with a headscarf, using 11,494 tins to form the image. This tribute references the "Grannies" episode of Bluey, where the characters dress up as Janet and Rita, two playful grannies known for slipping on beans.

The rollercoaster, named Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, is set to officially open on March 28. Designed specifically for preschoolers and young families, it will take guests on an adventure through Bluey's Backyard, celebrating the show's themes of energy, play, and everyday family moments.

Howard Ebison, vice president of Alton Towers Resort, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is all about celebrating energy, play and those everyday moments families love about the show. The 'Grannies' episode is a firm favourite with our guests, so creating a giant Bluey made from more than 11,000 bean cans felt like the perfect way to mark the countdown to opening day. It's playful, unexpected and unmistakably Bluey - and we can't wait to welcome families from March 28 to experience the world's first Bluey coaster right here at Alton Towers Resort."

Natasha Spence, events director for Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, added, "'Grannies' is an iconic episode of Bluey. We also know that fans associate beans with Bluey and Bingo dressing up as Janet and Rita. Seeing this fantastic on-screen detail brought to life in such an imaginative way truly celebrates the countdown to the opening of Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! at CBeebies Land at Alton Towers Resort. We are delighted to be working with the team at Alton Towers to create the world's first Bluey coaster for families across the UK to enjoy this spring."

This innovative marketing effort highlights Alton Towers' commitment to creating engaging experiences for visitors, blending art and entertainment to build anticipation for the new attraction. The bean can portrait not only showcases creativity but also pays homage to a cherished episode, ensuring fans of all ages can look forward to the rollercoaster's debut.
