Flat Iron Steakhouse to Launch in Birmingham This Summer
A prominent steak chain is preparing to make its debut in Birmingham in the coming months, marking a significant first for the Midlands region. Flat Iron, which operates 20 branches across Britain, has officially confirmed plans to open a substantial new restaurant at 41-42 Temple Street in Summer 2026.
Expansive Two-Floor Dining Experience
The new Birmingham venue will span two floors, offering a spacious dining environment. The ground floor will accommodate 60 guests, while the upstairs area will seat 50, providing ample space for patrons to enjoy the culinary offerings.
Fred Smith, Flat Iron's head of beef, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, describing Birmingham as a vibrant city. He stated, "From the very beginning, Flat Iron has been about offering carefully sourced, high-quality steak at great value. We're delighted to be bringing Flat Iron to the city's vibrant dining scene and are looking forward to opening our doors this summer."
Signature Dishes and Menu Highlights
Flat Iron is renowned for its iconic flat iron steak, sourced from the featherblade cut. The Birmingham branch will feature a rotating selection of specials, including premium Wagyu options. For non-steak enthusiasts, the menu will also include a Green Chilli Cheeseburger and a Scottish bavette.
The sides offered at the new location will include:
- Beef dripping chips
- Truffled macaroni cheese
- Creamed spinach
Additionally, an extensive wine list will be available to complement the dining experience.
Background and Expansion Plans
Flat Iron was originally launched as a pop-up restaurant in 2012 by founder Charlie Carroll. Due to its immediate success, the first permanent branch opened in Soho that same year. The chain's growth continues with other openings scheduled for this year, including a new Piccadilly branch in London this spring, a Newcastle venue later in the year, and a Liverpool location in the autumn.
