Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Fer Lopez, who joined the club for £19 million last summer, has spent the second half of the season on loan at his former club Celta Vigo. The young attacker failed to make an impact at Molineux, managing just 12 appearances across all competitions, including only two Premier League starts. After being linked with a move away in January, Lopez returned to Celta Vigo, where he has rediscovered his form.
Impressive Loan Spell
Since returning to La Liga, Lopez has made 20 appearances, scoring twice and providing a stunning goal in the Europa League. His performances have helped Celta Vigo secure a spot in the Conference League qualification places, with the club still pushing for a Europa League berth. The winger's resurgence has caught the attention of Celta's hierarchy, who are keen to bring him back permanently.
Celta's 'Creative' Approach
With Wolves facing a summer clear-out following their relegation to the Championship, Lopez's future appears to be away from Molineux. He signed a five-year contract upon his arrival, which still has four years remaining. However, Celta Vigo sporting director Marco Garces has made the club's intentions clear. Speaking to DAZN, Garces said: 'From our perspective, it's up to us to make every possible effort. To try and find those options, get creative, and explore possibilities until the summer is over.'
Wolves are expected to listen to offers for the winger as they rebuild for life in the Championship, making a permanent move to Celta Vigo a likely outcome this summer.
