Ashgate Hospice and BRM Launch 2026 Wills Month to Support End-of-Life Care

Ashgate Hospice has joined forces with Chesterfield-based legal firm BRM to unveil its 2026 Wills Month campaign, a vital initiative aimed at raising essential funds for specialist end-of-life care services throughout North Derbyshire. Throughout the month of April, BRM will forgo its standard will-writing fees in exchange for voluntary donations to the hospice, with suggested contributions of £75 for a single will and £150 for mirror wills designed for couples.

Impressive Fundraising Legacy and Impact

Last year's campaign generated nearly £16,000, contributing to a remarkable total of over £100,000 raised since the partnership's inception in 2013. These funds are crucial in sustaining Ashgate Hospice's comprehensive services, which include in-home care, an inpatient unit, various therapeutic interventions, and spiritual and emotional support for patients and their families.

Community Commitment and Professional Support

Rob Woodhead, executive director at BRM, expressed enthusiasm for the campaign, stating, "We are thrilled to launch our annual Wills Month campaign in support of Ashgate Hospice. As a Chesterfield-based firm, this charity holds a special place in our hearts, delivering essential care and support to our local community."

Paul Berresford highlighted the importance of will-writing, adding, "Creating a will is a critical step to ensure your loved ones are properly provided for. By participating, individuals can access professional legal assistance while contributing to a profoundly worthy cause."

Laura Law from Ashgate Hospice emphasized the dual benefits, noting, "Drafting a will offers peace of mind and clarity for your wishes. The donations raised through Wills Month enable us to continue delivering vital care to people across North Derbyshire."

Long-Term Financial Sustainability

Gifts in wills represent a significant revenue stream for the hospice, generating more than £1.2 million annually. This funding is instrumental in securing the future of its services, ensuring that compassionate end-of-life care remains accessible to the community. To participate in the 2026 Wills Month, individuals are encouraged to register before the end of April.
