Cancer Survivor's Quiz Raises £500 for Rosemere

Former professional photographer and cancer survivor Alan Hutchinson put his family and friends to the test at his fourth annual big quiz for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, raising £500 for the charity.

Quiz Night Highlights

The questions, compiled by quiz master Paul Wise, had a packed audience at Bacup's The Circle venue scratching their heads. It was team University Challenged that came up with the most correct answers to take the title of Bacup's brainiest.

Seventy-year-old Alan, who four years ago was in treatment for tonsil cancer, now works as a volunteer for Rosemere Cancer Foundation. Last November, he took part in a five-day fundraising trek to Cambodia's UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat.

Alan said: "Thank you to everyone who supported the quiz. Special thanks to Paul, my sister Margaret and my wife Sue for helping with all the planning and organisation. It really means a lot to be able to make this donation to Rosemere, especially through an event that brings people together and is a lot of fun."

Hannah Leahy, fundraising assistant for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, commented: "Our thanks to Alan and everyone connected with his quiz for this wonderful donation. Alan is one of our great championers in East Lancs."
