A donation from the Casey Group Ltd, which is undertaking work at Rawtenstall Market, has been made to Civic Pride Rossendale. Marsha Hurst from the Casey Group's social value team brought the new tools and enjoyed learning about the activities Civic Pride volunteers are involved with. Three battery-powered tools were presented: a leaf blower, a standard hedge trimmer, and an extendable pole hedge trimmer. These tools will not only help the volunteers undertake their tasks more easily but also improve the group's carbon footprint by using battery power instead of petrol tools.
Distribution of Tools
The leaf blower and standard trimmers are to be used by the Haslingden and Helmshore group, while the extendable pole hedge trimmers will be available for all CPR groups to use as required. Volunteers from some of the gardening groups and litter pickers came to the presentation at Sparrow Park and Library gardens to thank Marsha and her organisation for their very practical donation.
Volunteer Enthusiasm
Jan Czugalinski, research and development officer, and Pete Harris, maintenance officer from Civic Pride Rossendale, could not wait to get their hands on the new tools. The Casey Group stated: “At the Casey Group, our purpose is simple – Improving lives in the communities where we work. Supporting Civic Pride Rossendale as part of our work at Rawtenstall Market is a great example of what that looks like in practice: backing passionate local volunteers with the tools they need to make a real difference on the ground. The pride and care shown across Rawtenstall is inspiring, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping that continue to grow.”
Community Reactions
Janet Allcock, publicity officer at Civic Pride Rossendale, added: “It was a lovely day, all the volunteers really enjoyed the opportunity to meet with Marsha to hear more about her company and chat about each area's work over the past few months and their plans for the future.” Lynn Smith, chair of CPR, said: “We are extremely fortunate to be so well supported by the Casey Group; the Social Value team have demonstrated their ethos already after only a short time of meeting them. Everyone I have contacted, including the team currently working on the market, have done their best to help and support us. The Social Value team have quickly organised the gift of the power tools and have organised and implemented a huge amount of practical work on a new project CPR are starting; this has saved many hours of our volunteers' time. I am sure I can speak for all of our volunteers when I say we are looking forward to working with the Casey Group in the future.”
Litter pickers Keith Ormerod and Robert McDonald, who regularly pick litter around Rawtenstall, also attended the presentation. The donation covers areas including Bacup, Rawtenstall, and Haslingden.
