Chesterfield Legal Firm's Decade of Support Tops £220,000 for Macmillan

The Chesterfield-based legal firm BRM has announced that its long-running Wills Month fundraising initiative has now generated more than £220,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support over the past ten years. The most recent campaign, which spanned October and November 2025, contributed nearly £20,000 to this impressive cumulative total.

Substantial Funds for Local Hospital Services

All funds raised are directed specifically to support Macmillan's comprehensive services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. These essential services include providing expert advice, financial assistance, and crucial emotional care for individuals and families affected by cancer throughout the Chesterfield and North Derbyshire region.

How the Campaign Works

During the designated Wills Month periods, BRM's private client team offers their professional will-writing services to clients. In exchange, clients are invited to make voluntary donations to Macmillan Cancer Support. The firm's tenth annual campaign, which concluded with donations accepted through March 2026, raised a final sum of £19,790. This latest effort builds upon the approximately £200,000 raised in previous years since the initiative began in 2015.

Leadership and Community Gratitude

Executive directors Rob Woodhead and Paul Berresford, leading from BRM's Chesterfield head office, expressed their pride in the campaign's success. Rob Woodhead stated: "Our tenth annual Wills Month campaign for Macmillan Cancer Support’s services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital was a huge success, raising an amazing amount of money. We’d like to thank all our clients who chose to donate to this amazing charity, which does so much to support those in our community going through the toughest of times."

Paul Berresford added: "Everyone in our private client team is proud of the work we do to support various charities and organisations like Macmillan throughout the year. Having a Will in place is vital for ensuring your affairs are in order and your loved ones provided for, so it’s great to see so many taking the opportunity to put one in place while also making a donation to support charities and organisations supporting others throughout the region."

Recognition from Macmillan Cancer Support

Samantha Jones, Macmillan Cancer Support's relationship fundraising manager for the East Midlands, extended heartfelt thanks to the firm. She said: "We would like to extend our sincere thanks to BRM solicitors for once again generously providing their free will service in support of Macmillan. Their continued commitment not only offers invaluable practical support to individuals and families but also plays an important role in raising awareness of the work Macmillan does for people affected by cancer."

She emphasized the dual benefit: "Having a Will that is right for you provides peace of mind and ensures that your wishes are clearly set out for the future. Through this service, BRM is helping members of the local community to take this important step, while also supporting Macmillan services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. This partnership helps to highlight the vital support Macmillan provides every day to patients and their loved ones, and we are extremely grateful to BRM for their ongoing generosity and dedication to making a meaningful difference within our community."

Looking Ahead: Future Charity Partnership

BRM has already announced its next charitable endeavor. The firm's upcoming Wills Month campaign is scheduled to run throughout April 2026. This time, the initiative will benefit Ashgate Hospice, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families across North Derbyshire.
