A new charity shop has officially opened its doors in Liverpool to help support seriously ill children and their families. The Claire House Children's Hospice shop is now welcoming shoppers at Stonedale Retail Park in Croxteth.
Cutting the ribbon to celebrate the special opening day on Thursday (May 21) were 22-year-old Jack Hall and his mum Emma Maloney. The family, from Woolton, have been supported by Claire House for more than 11 years. Jack has complex care needs, requires round-the-clock support, uses a wheelchair, and is unable to communicate verbally. Through the charity, Jack and his family receive vital support including respite care, therapies, music sessions, and emotional support for his sisters, Ava and Faith.
Emma said the hospice has been a lifeline for their family over the years: "Claire House gives us life back. They provide rest, support, joy and laughter - we'd be lost without them."
The new Croxteth shop will help the charity continue providing specialist care to babies, children, and young people across Merseyside. Income from these shops plays a crucial role in ensuring services can continue to grow, allowing the team to support even more families.
Tracey Allwright, head of retail at Claire House Children's Hospice, said: "We're absolutely delighted to be opening our new shop at Stonedale and to be right at the heart of the Croxteth community. Our charity shops play such an important role in helping fund our care, and we can't wait to welcome customers through the doors, whether they're popping in for a bargain, donating pre-loved items, or simply coming to say hello and support a local cause."
The charity is now encouraging people to visit the new shop and donate any unwanted, good quality items to help raise vital funds. You can find the shop opening hours and more details about Claire House online at www.clairehouse.org.uk.
