Daughter Runs for Moya Cole Hospice After Mother's Care

Written by Jasmine Ryan, a Moya Cole Hospice supporter

My name is Jasmine Ryan, and I ran the Great Manchester Run because Moya Cole Hospice cared for my mum during the last few weeks of her life. I was one of more than 120 participants who ran on behalf of Moya Cole Hospice on Sunday.

Moya Cole really went above and beyond for me and my family, especially my mum. They gave her a lot of dignity. We were able to put her out in the sun in a bed when she wasn’t able to open her eyes. It’s all just little things. I could have run for any charity, but I chose Moya Cole because I felt that they were there at a really dark time in my life. It’s still hard; I’m still grieving, as it’s only been 11 weeks since she died.

I’ve become a fundraiser for Moya Cole as well. I’m really passionate about doing anything for Moya Cole and making sure that other families get what I was given, what Mum got given. Any money that we can raise for Moya Cole is amazing.

The first 12k was absolutely fine; I really had to delve deep at 16k. I’ve had two major knee surgeries, so trying to run has been difficult.
