FAOS Musical Theatre Group Raises £1,272 for Local Hospice Charity

FAOS Musical Theatre Group has successfully raised £1,272 for Phyllis Tuckwell, a local hospice care charity dedicated to providing palliative and end-of-life care to the community. This generous donation was generated through the group's special performances of Carousel and Annie in 2025, showcasing their commitment to supporting vital local causes.

Impressive Fundraising Total Over 11 Years

The recent contribution brings the total amount raised by FAOS Musical Theatre Group for Phyllis Tuckwell to an astounding £12,153 over the past 11 years. This remarkable achievement has been accomplished through various fundraising efforts, including collections, proceeds from ticket sales, and a virtual Sing-Along-a-Lock-Down production held during challenging times.

Check Presentation and Charitable Impact

David Tropman, Chair of FAOS Musical Theatre Group, recently presented a cheque for £1,272 to Helena Burke, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. This donation is significant as it covers the cost of one of the hospice's clinical nurse specialists for over a week. These nurses play a crucial role by being the first to visit newly referred patients, assessing symptoms and needs, and referring them to appropriate teams such as doctors, physiotherapists, or counsellors.

Community Support and Gratitude

Helena Burke expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, "We’d like to thank David and everyone at FAOS Musical Theatre Group for this wonderful donation which will help fund the vital care that we provide." She emphasized that Phyllis Tuckwell needs to raise more than £25,000 daily to offer free services to patients, families, and carers, relying heavily on community support.

David Tropman highlighted the importance of amateur theatre in Farnham, saying, "FAOS Musical Theatre Group is delighted that through the joy of performance and the generosity of our audience, we can support another vital local charity, especially one which carries out such vital work that is so close to so many of our hearts."
