RSPCA Chesterfield Branch Introduces Free Wills Service to Support Animal Welfare

The RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Branch has launched an innovative free wills service this January, encouraging animal lovers across the region to start the New Year by securing the future of their loved ones and the causes closest to their hearts. This initiative provides supporters with a valuable opportunity to create their Will at no cost while potentially helping vulnerable animals in need.

Transforming Lives Through Compassionate Care

To demonstrate the profound impact of community support, the branch shares the inspiring story of Marnie, a dog whose life was completely transformed through dedicated rescue care. Marnie was originally rescued as a puppy from a distressing multi-dog household in Doncaster, where more than eighty dogs were discovered living in unacceptable conditions. She arrived at the centre alongside one adult dog and three other puppies from the same property, initially known as Shelley during her time at the facility.

Marnie was the shyest of her group, completely overwhelmed by her surroundings and frightened of the world around her. She required patient, specialist attention from the branch's animal care team to gradually rebuild her shattered confidence. Richard, a dedicated member of the animal care team who worked closely with Marnie, recalled her challenging beginnings.

"When Marnie first came to us, she appeared to be a lost soul," Richard explained. "Completely overawed by what she had been through and the dramatic change in circumstances she was facing. But as each day passed, a little more of her light began to shine through. Her progress was truly remarkable."

From Rescue to Forever Home

Through consistent care, time, and unwavering kindness, Marnie continued to flourish and develop. Once she reached a point of readiness, she was placed up for rehoming and soon discovered her perfect forever home. She now lives happily and healthily with her new owner, Rebecca, and her canine companion Bailey, who has played a crucial role in helping her continue to grow in confidence and security.

Rebecca expressed her gratitude for the transformation she has witnessed: "Rescuing Marnie was the best decision we've ever made. Watching her grow in confidence and thrive has been absolutely incredible, and it wouldn't have been possible without the amazing care and support from the staff at the RSPCA Chesterfield Animal Centre."

Securing Futures Through Free Will Writing

The branch's free wills service, available until April 19th through collaboration with the Free Wills Network, offers supporters the chance to accomplish an important New Year's resolution while taking care of family, friends, and cherished causes. Although there is absolutely no obligation to do so, many people choose to include a gift to their local RSPCA branch in their Will, helping ensure that animals like Marnie can continue receiving essential care, protection, and love for years to come.

Marnie's heartwarming journey represents just one example of the vital work conducted daily by the RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Branch, which rehabilitates and rehomes hundreds of neglected, abandoned, and unwanted animals each year. This free wills initiative not only provides practical assistance to community members but also creates sustainable support for ongoing animal welfare efforts throughout the region.
